Hardcore so raw and bareknuckle it sounds like the band is breaking the recording, permanently in the red for a relentless 7 minutes (comprising five songs). This is the sort of production I love--no frills, live sounding, so it still retains a sense of impulsive, in-the-moment-ness. It's almost like the band is too loud for the recording--but it's very much intentional, because the engineer managed to keep everything balanced and perceptible, so I think it's a pretty remarkable recording. I liked all the songs, "Breeding Another Disease" with its thunderous drum rolls was my favorite, and also the bass groove-heavy "Rumination/Unfair Reality." Hot Earth play in such tight furious union they give the impression of absolute chaos but beneath the distortion they're totally in control.
